The Respiratory system
* The respiratory system: it is the system which supply the body with Oxygen and take away carbon dioxide and water vapour.
* It is found in the chest thorax cavity.
The respiration process:
process done by living organism to get energy from digested food.
The main parts of the respiratory system
1-The Nose: 2- The Pharynx 3- The Larynx:
4- The trachea & two bronchus (wind pipe) 5- The two lungs
1-The Nose:
it lined with a mucous layer contains Hair.
To obstruct and filter dust and microbes before the entering of air to the lungs To moisten air Blood Capillaries To warm air
2- The Pharynx : a common cavity between trachea and esophagus .
3- The Trachea : it contains cartilaginous rings to keep it open
And lined with cilia to eject up the strange objects .
The top of trachea
*Larynx: it is the voice box and above it epiglottis which close it
During swallowing food .
The bottom of trachea branches which enter the lungs
5- The two lungs
* The two lungs occupy the thoracic cavity and they are interiorly surrounded by the ribs
* They are on both sides of the heart
* They contain millions of tiny air sacs called alveoli these alveoli are surrounded by networks of(blood capillaries) in which gas exchange takes place
* The walls of alveoli and of the blood capillaries are thin to permit the gas exchange
* Diaphragm separates the thoracic cavity from the abdominal
Mechanism of Respiration
** Diaphragm: it responsible for respiration process
Inhalation: is the process of entering air rich in oxygen into the lungs
Exhalation: is the process of getting out air rich in carbon dioxide of the lungs.
How we keep respiratory system healthily?
1-don’t smoke
2-avoid being in crowded places .
3-eat fruit rich in vitamin
4-avoid cold
Q1: what is meant by respiration – inhalation – exhalation
Exchange of gases:
(Exchange) of gases occurs between the air existed (in alveoli) and (the blood)
flows in the capillaries via (through) their (thin walls) where blood leaves (carbon dioxide) and carries the (oxygen) and distributes it all over the body cells.
